WHO WE ARE

Water Unite is an ambitious non-profit organisation, still in start-up mode. We could not have got this far without the invaluable advice and support of the following people and organisations:

LEADERSHIP

Lord Malcolm Bruce

Chair

Lord Bruce was the UK Member of Parliament for Gordon from 1983 until 2015 through seven general elections. In that capacity, he carried a number of portfolios and served on many committees notably covering economic affairs, energy and the environment and chaired the International Development Committee from 2005 to 2015. Perhaps, most notably, he persuaded DFID to review and raise its policy commitment to the water and sanitation sector.

He has close ties with the DFID and other bilateral donors, the United Nations, World Bank and IFC and brings a wealth of political leadership and partnership creation across the political, private and development sectors to Water Unite.

Prior to his election he trained as a journalist and worked in a variety of different posts in the public and private sectors. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1995, made a Privy Councillor in 2006, knighted in the Queen’s Jubilee Birthday Honours in 2012 and appointed to the House of Lords in the 2015 Dissolution Honours, being introduced to the House as Lord Bruce of Bennachie.

Lord Bruce is currently Senior Advisor to DAI and recently served as Special Representative for the Start Network and in a mentoring role with the Myanmar Parliament on behalf of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. He is President of the Caribbean Council.
