Usha Rao-Monari

Vice-Chair at Water Unite

Usha has worked in the water space for almost two decades, both as an investor and financier as well as a policy advocate. Currently at Blackstone Infrastructure Group, she worked on bringing commercial capital at scale into the water sector to finance the investment needed for water access and security.

She has also served on a Boards of IFC investee and partner companies and has chaired a number of WASH and sustainability related councils of the World Economic Forum.
Usha brings a hands-on experience of bringing together finance, innovation, infrastructure and governance to create solutions in the WASH sector. She established and built the IFC’s global water and waste business to a portfolio of close to $4 billion.

During her time at the IFC & World Bank, Usha founded the 2030 Water Resources Group, a public-private-civil society partnership created to work with governments in addressing their water needs. WRG was founded on the principles of linking water security to economic growth and involving all stakeholders in creating solutions.

As an Indian by birth and a graduate of Delhi University followed by an MA at Columbia, she juggles her life between New York and Washington DC and brings a unique perspective and skill set to Water Unite.
