WHO WE ARE

Water Unite is an ambitious non-profit organisation, still in start-up mode. We could not have got this far without the invaluable advice and support of the following people and organisations:

LEADERSHIP

Dr Alessandra Buonfino

Trustee

Alessandra is an Italian citizen living in London. She is currently Head of International Development at the law firm Mishcon de Reya where she responsible for international strategy, focusing predominantly on Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Her role is to leverage new opportunities, build on existing relationships and develop networks with governments, business leaders and philanthropists.

Before this role, Alessandra worked in the British Government for six years. She set up and ran a unit within the Department for International Trade focused on cultivating relationships with some of the world's most influential business families and philanthropists. In partnership with private banks, family offices, law firms, cultural institutions and NGOs she secured hundreds of millions of pounds worth of investment into life sciences; food and drink; regeneration and philanthropy.

Prior to this, she was Head of Business Partnerships at the Cabinet Office. Her role brought an innovative approach to central government policy making with business. She was responsible for the relationships between Cabinet Office & 10 Downing Street and corporates in the retail & FMCG sectors.

Before joining Government, she was Head of UK Government Affairs at Tesco, responsible for liaising with and influencing Government on key issues. She started her life as an academic.

Alessandra brings a wealth of private and political leadership and partnership strategy to Water Unite.
